The widespread availability of mobile and desk-based devices means that teachers and pupils are now able to interact with each other in ways that weren’t previously possible. But there is a distinct lack of awareness of the online safety issues that come alongside the adoption of such technology.
After speaking to teachers, parents and pupils of all ages over the last year, the lack of knowledge surrounding online safety is alarming and is apparent that it’s a subject which is being openly brushed under the carpet and ignored. With many young people using various platforms to extend bullying outside of the classroom, for the safety and wellbeing of pupils, this is an issue which needs to be addressed. In light of this, we have commissioned this exclusive research to discover how big the issue really is and what can be done to help tackle it.
